Vietnam is one of the world’s 25 most biodiverse countries, with more than 300 mammal species, nearly 900 bird species, and over 2,700 fish species. However, most of its ecosystems and biodiversity—from forests and wetlands to marine environments—have been and continue to be severely threatened by overexploitation of natural resources, climate change, and pollution. These serious threats are pushing many of Vietnam’s wildlife species to the brink of extinction.

As part of its wildlife conservation efforts in Vietnam, CCD is working to better protect and restore populations of threatened species. However, CCD still requires the cooperation and contributions of individuals who care about nature in Vietnam. These contributions are expected to serve as both motivation and resources to implement projects and programs focused on surveying and monitoring endangered species, as well as identifying hotspots of exploitation, trade, and consumption.

At the same time, CCD will use these contributions to promote collaboration among stakeholders, strengthening coordinated efforts toward reducing overexploitation of natural resources, deforestation, and pollution.
