In the context of increasingly severe impacts of climate change, the role of forests and natural resources is receiving growing attention. Forest and resource governance not only helps maintain and protect the environment and ensure ecosystem functions, but also delivers stable and sustainable socio-economic values, particularly by supporting livelihoods that are vital for local communities. In recent years, CCD has been playing an active role as one of the organizations contributing significantly to the restoration, conservation, and development of landscape areas in Vietnam.

Throughout its operations, CCD has been providing technical support to local authorities and management boards of protected areas (including National Parks, Nature Reserves, Biosphere Reserves, and Protection Forest Management Boards) across Vietnam in developing sustainable forest and natural resource management plans. In addition, CCD aims to establish community-based forest and natural resource management models, forming household groups and cooperatives to enhance public awareness and capacity, promote collective economic development, and move toward management models aligned with national and international standards. These efforts contribute to creating stable and sustainable livelihoods for local communities.

Key technical support activities of CCD include:

• Supporting the development of sustainable forest management plans toward forest certification (FSC FM, FSC CoC, FSC Controlled Wood, SBP).

• Supporting the establishment of community-based forest and natural resource management models.

• Assessing the management effectiveness of protected areas.

• Conducting social and environmental impact assessments of development projects.

• Engaging in policy advocacy related to forest and natural resource governance.
